Foster Parents Make All the Difference
In our Therapeutic Foster Care program, caring foster parents help youth at risk by providing nurturing supports in a loving family home. We call our foster parents Mentors because they do so much more than provide a home to a child in need—they help children heal, grow and learn, forever changing their lives. By opening your home to a child in need and becoming a Mentor, you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference in their life. You’ll also receive the tools, education and support from our expert team that you need to be successful as a foster parent. What’s more, the bonds of family you will create can last a lifetime.
A Perfect Match
In order to create the best matches possible between our Mentors and the children they serve, we consider the needs and preferences of both through our comprehensive matching process. Proper matching takes time and is well worth the investment to make that “perfect match.” The matching process is designed to ensure that you, your family and the child in care who comes to live with you are comfortable so that you can develop a meaningful relationship. A successful match can forever change lives for the better.
Mentors Change Lives
Our Therapeutic Foster Care program has proven that children flourish when they are able to receive services and supports in a natural home setting, and Mentors are central to this success. As positive role models, teachers, family and friends, our Mentors develop meaningful relationships with the youth they support. The support, trust and stability found in our Mentor model are essential ingredients in helping young people learn and grow in natural family homes where they belong. The caring and dedication of our Mentors makes the difference, and that’s why we provide an extensive range of professional support services to help our Mentors be the best foster parents they can be.
Family Vistas® Model
Our Therapeutic Foster Care program is based on our clinical model, Family Vistas®, which recognizes that every child is walking their own path, with a unique vision for their lives. The Family Vistas® model emphasizes the healing effects of family relationships. Our specially trained staff conduct comprehensive clinical assessments to identify a child’s strengths and create personalized treatment plans. With the support of their Mentors, children learn to build coping skills to help them set positive goals and overcome challenges, such as trauma, anxiety, depression, substance abuse and problems in school. Our dedicated treatment teams work with our Mentors to help each child reach the destination of their choosing—whether it’s reunification with their biological family, adoption or independent living.
